Weather and ADS-B Traffic
This solution applies to all avionics systems which are able to receive and display
ADSB FIS-B weather. Popular choices are:
Garmin
GTN650 / GTN750 (and variants)
G500 / G600 / G1000 / G3000 (and Nxi variants)
G3X (and variants)
GNS430 / GNS530 (and variants)
aera 795 / GPSMAP 695 (and variants)
Aspen
EFD1000/500 (and variants)
Dynon
SkyView (and variants)
In contrast to the Avidyne systems those avionics solutions do not have a
direct wired interface to the ADL system. But the ADL140/150(B)/190/200 can be
combined with the ADLS1G extension box. Then the weather data is brodcasted
locally in the plane at extremely low power. This enough so the ADS-B receiver
of the systems listed above can pick it up and display the weather data.
This also implies that the avionics installation must be able to receive
ADSB FIS-B data. This usually required a separate receiver or a compatible
transponder. Popular compatible receivers and transponders are:
GDL39(R/3D), GDL50/52, GTX345, GTX45R, SV-ADSB-470/472 (for Dynon)
Flight Plan Transfer
Besides displaying the weather data many of the systems listed above can also
send the currently active flight plan to the wired ADL device. This is done
using a direct wire connection so it will even work without the FIS-B
receivers/transponders listed above. The ADL devices an read "Aviation Data"
and "NMEA" formats via RS232. But please not that test showed the G1000
with its GIA63(W) box unfortunately does not supply this flight plan information.
The transmitted flight plan will also contain IFR procedures like
arrivals etc.
